June 02 – Present: Associate Professor, Dept. of Soils, Water & Agricultural Engineering, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. I teach/taught graduate and undergraduate courses on hydrology, water quality, water treatment, soil and water conservation, management of salt-affected soil, water resources management and legislation, advanced topics in water resources, agroclimatology, groundwater pollution and clean-up, etc. Working in research projects dealing with greywater reuse, brine characteristics of desalination plants and innovative desalination methods. Head Of the Department from Sept 1, 2003 to Aug 31, 2005.

Jan 96 – June 02: Assistant Professor, Dept. of Soils & Water, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. Completed research projects on soil salinity reclamation in Oman, agricultural impacts on groundwater quality, brine disposal from inland desalination plants and use of treated oily-water for irrigation.

March 95 -Dec 95: Research Officer, Department of Land and Water Conservation, Deniliquin, NSW. Supervised the works of the Hydrogeology, GIS and Field Operations Group. Was involved in the preparation of the land and water management plans for Murray area irrigation districts.

Sept 92- Feb 95: Experimental Scientist, CSIRO Division of Water Resources, Perth Laboratory. Investigated the environmental impact of agricultural practices on water resources of the Kelantan plain of Malaysia. Works also included i) development of water and solute transport models, ii) design of field and laboratory experiments, iii) statistical analysis of data, iv) report preparation.

Dec 91-Sept 92: Scientific Officer, Department of Water Resources, Griffith, New South Wales. Works included investigation, monitoring and reporting of research on land, water and environmental issues of Murrumbidgee region of New South Wales.

May 91- June 91: Hydrology Unit, Department of Water Resources, Parramatta, New South Wales. Performed analysis of floods in northern NSW for the proposed enlargement of Pindari dam on the Severn river using RORB and MIKE11 models.

June 89-Feb 91: Assistant Professor, Institute of Flood Control and Drainage Research (IFCDR), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Conducted research on floods of Bangladesh. Consulted for Water Development Board on improvement of management of water resources projects, mathematical modeling of water systems and on hydrological and statistical analysis of Brahmaputra river flow data. Also organized training courses and supervised research assistants.

Aug 84-Dec 88: Research Assistant, Iowa State Water Resources Research Institute, Iowa State University, USA. Developed a finite element soil moisture flow model. Also conducted research on field determination of saturated and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity.
